Holly Galvin

A published journalist, Holly writes for our media division. She earned a BA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and is currently completing her master’s candidacy at the Endicott College School of Sport Science.

Her coaching experience includes high school soccer as well as trial advocacy competitions, and she is currently on track to earn the U.S. Soccer D license. Below is a testimonial from one of her former students:

“Holly was one of the most influential mentors I had in college. As my mock trial coach, she helped me find my voice as an advocate and made me believe I could actually be a litigator-which I am! She provides sharp insights but also has a lightheartedness that makes her very approachable and a great mentor. Holly made our long prep sessions fun, she made our team meetings feel like community, and she made tough feedback easy to hear. I’m not at all surprised she’s doing great work in higher education now, because she’s always had the amazing gift for making people grow.”

Holly has long-fostered a passion for the beautiful game. A goalkeeper who started out at striker and came of age refereeing as well, Holly was chosen for District Select play and earned four varsity letters at Beverly (MA) High School. Promoted to starting goalkeeper following her freshman varsity season, Holly went on to become a first-team All-Conference selection, a Harry Agganis All-Star, and was named team MVP following her final season. With two offers to play NCAA Division III soccer, Holly chose instead to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she co-captained the university’s intercollegiate trial advocacy team through its formative years.

From the team’s infancy to graduation, the co-captains transformed the student-run organization into a perennial contender, running the business and policy elements while implementing trial strategy as well. Holly was initially trained in trial advocacy as a junior high school student, at the Saint Mary of the Annunciation School (“SMA”) mock trial program in Danvers, Massachusetts. She is a Founding Member of the NWSL Boston Independent Supporters’ Association for Boston Legacy FC.
